Doctor- Answered Lip Filler FAQ
What is lip filler?
Lip filler is a cosmetic injectable treatment that adds volume, shape, and definition to the lips. The most common lip fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in your body that helps keep skin hydrated and plump.
At Pearl, Dr. Degurse exclusively uses Juvederm® fillers for lips—including Juvederm Ultra XC, Juvederm Volbella XC, and Juvederm Vollure XC. These FDA-approved products are designed for safe, beautiful, and natural-looking results.
Why Should I see a doctor for lip filler?
While many providers can perform lip filler, only a physician brings years of advanced training in facial anatomy, safety, and medical technique to every procedure. Dr. Degurse has completed medical school, residency, and advanced anatomy training—including extensive cadaver lab experience—so you can trust that your lips are in expert hands.
Other injectors may have excellent skills, but nothing replaces a true doctor’s depth of understanding for both aesthetics and safety. At Pearl, your treatment is never delegated.
Who can legally inject lip filler in Colorado Springs?
In Colorado, only licensed medical professionals—such as MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs, RNs, and dentists—are legally allowed to inject dermal fillers. Some providers, such as registered nurses or physician assistants, may offer filler under the supervision of a physician.
At Pearl Skin & Body Rejuvenation, all lip filler procedures are performed directly by Dr. Degurse, M.D.—never delegated to other staff. For more details, see our blog on who can legally inject filler in Colorado.
How long does lip filler last?
Most lip fillers last between 6 to 12 months, depending on the product used, your metabolism, and your unique anatomy. Over time, the filler gradually breaks down and is safely absorbed by the body.
Dr. Degurse will discuss your goals and help you choose the best product for lasting, natural results.
What’s the difference between lip, cheek, and under-eye filler?
Lip filler is designed to add volume, shape, and definition to the lips using soft, flexible formulas. Cheek filler restores lost volume and contour in the midface for a lifted, youthful appearance. Under-eye filler addresses hollows or dark circles, helping you look more refreshed.
Each area requires a different technique and product. Dr. Degurse is trained to customize your treatment for the safest, most natural results and will guide you to the right product for the job.
How much does lip filler cost?
Our pricing for lip filler is $750 for a full syringe. This is the amount needed for most guests to achieve that natural plump, balanced result.
All treatments are performed by Dr. Degurse, M.D. herself.

Is lip filler safe?
Yes—when performed by a skilled physician using FDA-approved products, lip filler is very safe. Dr. Degurse uses only Juvederm® fillers and follows strict protocols for safety and comfort.
All medical procedures carry some risks, including temporary swelling, bruising, or tenderness. Dr. Degurse will review all risks with you and answer your questions at your appointment.
What is recovery like after lip filler?
Most guests experience mild swelling and tenderness for a few days after treatment. You can return to most normal activities right away, but we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol, and makeup on the lips for 24 hours.
Dr. Degurse will provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure your results are beautiful and your recovery is smooth.
Can bad filler be dissolved?
Yes! Unwanted or uneven hyaluronic acid filler can be safely dissolved with a special enzyme called hyaluronidase. Dr. Degurse has experience correcting poorly placed filler from other places. If you’re unhappy with your results, schedule a consult and we’ll help you feel confident again.
Can I get lip filler at my consultation?
Yes! In most cases, your lip filler treatment can be performed during your initial consultation—no need to schedule a separate visit. This is possible when time allows and the right filler is available.
Let us know you’re interested in same-day treatment when booking, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule.
What if I’m interested in filler for cheeks, chin, or under-eye areas instead of lips?
Absolutely—Dr. Degurse is experienced with dermal filler for volume, contour, and rejuvenation in the cheeks, chin, jawline, and under-eye (tear trough) areas. Each treatment is tailored to your facial anatomy and goals.
During your consultation, we’ll discuss the best options for natural-looking results, whether you’re seeking subtle enhancement or a more dramatic refresh. Let us know your concerns and we’ll create a personalized plan for you!
How quickly will I see lip filler results?
Lip filler results are visible immediately after your treatment! However, mild swelling is normal for a few days, so your final shape and volume will be most apparent once swelling subsides—typically within 3 to 5 days.
Dr. Degurse will review what to expect at your appointment and provide tips for the best possible outcome.
