Doctor- Answered Botox FAQ
Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are neurotoxin treatments used to smooth lines and address select medical conditions. In most cases (and the answers below), these products are interchangeable. Dr. Degurse will help you determine the best option for your needs during your consultation.
What’s the difference: Dysport® vs. Botox® vs. Xeomin®?
Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are neurotoxins that relax facial muscles to smooth lines and wrinkles. The differences are mostly in onset time, duration, and subtle formulation tweaks. Most guests see similar results. Dr. Degurse will recommend the best option for your goals during your visit.
What’s the difference between a neurotoxin and a filler?
Neurotoxins like Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® temporarily relax muscles to soften expression lines. Fillers add or restore volume to areas such as lips, cheeks, or under eyes. Both can be combined as part of your custom plan at Pearl Skin & Body Rejuvenation.
How much does Botox® cost in Colorado Springs?
Most guests invest $260–$800 per session, depending on areas and number of units treated. Treatments for migraines, TMJ, or hyperhidrosis may have different costs, always discussed in your free consultation. And while we’re on the topic of price, you may want to consider our TOX membership which is only $19 a month. You’ll save $2 a unit, and get savings on a number of other treatments and product.
What is the 4-hour rule for Botox®?
After your treatment, avoid lying down, rubbing, or massaging the treated areas for at least 4 hours. This helps ensure your results are precise and consistent.
What can mess up Botox®?
Touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to treated areas, strenuous exercise, or lying down too soon after treatment can all impact your results. Dr. Degurse provides simple aftercare instructions to help you get the best outcome.
How long do Botox® results last?
You’ll typically see results within 5-14 days. Most guests enjoy smoother, refreshed skin for about 3 months before returning for their next visit.
Who is a good candidate for Botox®?
Most healthy adults seeking to soften lines or address medical concerns such as migraines, TMJ, or hyperhidrosis are candidates. Dr. Degurse will review your medical history and goals to ensure your safety and the best possible results.
What areas can be treated with Botox®?
Cosmetic: Forehead, frown lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet, brow lift, lip flip, jawline, bunny lines, and more.
Medical: Chronic migraine, TMJ/jaw pain, and excessive sweating. Your care plan is always personalized.
Why does it matter if a doctor performs my Botox®? I can't throw a rock and not hit someone that injects.
At Pearl, every injection is performed by Dr. Rachael Degurse, a board-certified physician. This means your treatment is never delegated, always precise, and focused on your safety and results. No horror stories or viral TikTok’s happen here.
Will I look frozen or unnatural?
Never at Pearl. Dr. Degurse’s approach is artful, conservative, and designed for natural, refreshed results—never an overdone or “frozen” look. That is unless, that look is what you want. There are some that prefer that, and if it’s safe, and that’s your preference, Dr. Degurse will work with you to achieve the best result for you.
Can I get Botox® for migraines?
Yes—Botox® is commonly used to help reduce the frequency and severity of chronic migraines. Dr. Degurse can discuss if this is right for you during your consultation.
Can Botox® help with TMJ or jaw pain?
Absolutely. Many guests find relief from TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder) and jaw tension through Botox® treatment. Dr. Degurse can review if this approach fits your needs.
Can Botox® help with excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)?
Yes. Botox® is a well-established option for treating excessive sweating in areas like the underarms, hands, or feet. Results can last for several months.
Can I get Botox® at my consultation?
In most cases, yes—you can receive your Botox® treatment at the same appointment as your consultation, as long as time and resources allow. Dr. Degurse will review your goals and medical history first to ensure the safest, most effective plan. If you’re a good candidate and there’s enough time, treatment can usually be performed right away.
